This project included the design and construction of a new 10,000 square foot building that houses the DeQuincy Police Department, jail facilities, and the State of Louisiana Driver’s License Office for the DeQuincy area. The police department includes offices, squad room, training room, locker/dressing room facilities and a secured evidence room. The jail facility contains state of the art cells with computer controlled access, a covered “sally port” for transferring prisoners and a secured exercise yard. The Driver’s License office portion features it’s own separate entrance with testing facilities and a large waiting room.
The building’s design features details from the historic Railroad Museum which is two blocks away. The roof is made of metal roofing that appears to be clay tiles with an insulated steel deck on a steel truss structure. The exterior walls are made of steel reinforced concrete masonry units with an exterior stucco finish/insulation system and a brick wainscot.
